Sometimes I make the mistake of putting all my children in a box and think that because one of them isn't good at something the others won't be either.

It’s official. I’m a soccer mom.
And I’m loving every minute of it. Okay, not every minute, not the minutes where I have to battle with my three year old to behave and stay with us and not wander off to the nearest playground and not whine or pick on his siblings. I love every minute that I can actually watch little "D"play soccer. He absolutely adores it.
The “husbird” and I are sort of in awe at how good he is at it and how much he loves it, because “T” didn't enjoy playing team sports when he was "D's"age. We tried them all and nothing stuck until he found tennis when he was twelve.

New Bike Rider
For the second time "D" learned to ride a bike. He learned how awhile
back, but then he fell and lost his nerve and wanted his training wheels
put back on. He officially knows how now. It's so great to have four
kids that know how to ride their own bike. We've only got Baby "G"
left to teach in a couple of years.
This summer one of my main
"to-do's" was to get everyone workings bikes with helmets. First we
bought miss "A" a cruiser. Then I found a company that sells solid
tires, with no inner tubes in them. The "husbird" was so sick of fixing
flats. Now three of the four kids bikes have solid tires, so happy
about that. That means NO MORE FLAT REPAIRS. We needed to buy a couple
of helmets. "T"s was done for and I finally gave in and bought miss
"C" a smaller helmet. Hers never really fit her head, flopped all
over. She has the smallest head ever.
You would never know what an
endeavor or work it is to outfit seven people with helmets that fit and
bikes that work.
DONE and DONE. Feels so good. Until next year.
If the "nestlings" would just quit growing.

Lemon Heads
Did you know that in Mexico they call limes lemons? They do.
The "husbird" often makes limeade, which in Mexico would be called lemonade. Confused yet? Me too.
Anyways, it is so refreshing on a hot summer day.

When he made it today the "nestlings" thought it was quite fun playing with the empty lemon/lime shells.
If you want to make some:
Squeeze six limes into a large pitcher
Add 1 1/2 cups sugar and stir until dissolved
Then add four quarts of cold water
Put in refrigerator to chill
(can half the recipe to 3 limes, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 quarts water for smaller portion)
Best enjoyed with some lemon heads:)

The First and Last Tooth Saga
The tooth fairy is having a hard time keepin' up round
these parts. I mean, why do children have so many little teeth to begin
with? Why can't they just be born with the teeth they'll have all
their life? Do you know what it's like to have four kids with teeth
falling out at the same time? Let's just say the tooth fairy has a full
time job at our nest.
When little "D" lost his first baby tooth this week I wanted to cry. Baby teeth are so little and cute. Adult teeth, not so much. He doesn't even know what happened to his tooth. He was eating a peach outside with "C" and they came in the house to tell me he lost his tooth. I think he swallowed it.
Miss "C' got right to work writing a letter to the tooth fairy on his behalf explaining what happened, so he would have something to put under his pillow that night. I'm not even going to mention that he has another lose tooth. Sniff. Sniff. I'm not ready. Not ready for those cute baby teeth to be gone.
Then, if that's not enough, mister "T" lost his last baby tooth. Why? I mean, I know he's not a baby anymore. He turns thirteen in August, but this just makes it official. We've got our first teen. Heaven help us.
Oh, I almost forgot, miss "A" is about to lose a tooth as well. See what I mean? Three teeth in one week. Busy, busy, exhausted tooth fairy!

Yee haw and Yo Ho
It was cowboy and pirate day at preschool this week.
I whipped together outfits from the halloween box and stuff around the house with the help of a borrowed cowboy hat from Grandpa. Thanks Dad!
Rocking our best pirate faces, at least "D" is. He really likes to get into character.
Moco's tail adds the perfect flair to this shot.
