When the "husbird" brought home a free cork/bulletin board from his job a few years back I got to work with plans to transform it into something a lot prettier.
Next I cut some striped fabric, leaving enough to fold the edges under.
cut and crossed grosgrain ribbon in the middle, and hot glued the four corners.
I glued the fabric, ribbon, and my finger tips to the cork, ouch!
Until I got smart and used the end of a wood ruler to push everything into the hot glue.

I finished it off by putting upholstery tacks at each cross.
It's great for keeping track of little notes the kiddos bring home from school, pictures, and miscellaneous papers I want in eye site.
Next time you're at the thrift store grab yourself a cork board and then beautify it!
You'll be glad you did.
