Second Story Walls

What is it about the month of January that makes me restless with my house?
All of a sudden I want to tackle a bunch of projects I've been turning over and over in my head. One of them is my two story kitchen walls,
which I have a love/hate relationship with.
I love that the open two stories connects the upstairs with the downstairs,
but I hate that it doesn't feel cozy.
Above my cabinets are big bare walls that stare at me day in, day out and I'm ready to do something about them.
What do you do with a blank canvas that is a whole level up?
It has had me stumped for many years. I'm thinking shutters old or new.
What do you think?
Shutters would make it appear that a window is behind them and
add some interest to the walls.
I also have these second story windows that I want to put some bamboo blinds on.
Now for the hunt...I have a lot of space to cover I need some cheap shutters.
I went to the thrift store, but had no luck. I'm going to try a few more places.
It may take a while to find some for the right price.
A true test in patience.
Bamboo blinds that large are going to be an investment as well.
Do you have second story walls, if so did how did you fill them or did you leave them?
