Inexpensive Filing Solution

I've needed a new and stylish way to file papers for awhile now.
I would love this filing console from Home Decorators that my friend Samantha has,
but, it wasn't in the budget so when the
"husbird's" old work was giving away some old filing cabinets I had him get me one. He couldn't understand why,
but I had a vision for what I wanted to do with the big metal box.
Of course I forgot to take a before picture, but the picture below is very similar.
It was a light grey lateral filing cabinet.

You can get these on craiglist for cheap.
First thing I did was prime and paint it an off white.
I bought little legs at Lowes, took off the metal feet it had,
and screwed the new legs on.
I added ribbon pulls for now, until I find some hardware I love.

I glued some wood appliques to the front of it with epoxy.

Ta Da!
Here it is in all its transformed glory.
The best part is I got my papers under control by filling it up.
Until little hands empty it.

Who's your super hero?

Mine wears a yellow goggle mask.
A batman/superman cape
and a red and blue sleeper that the feet have worn out of.
Super "D" to the rescue.
Bringing a smile to my face daily.

Fix it Time

The most expensive piece of furniture I've ever purchased looks like this.
For how much we paid for this Lee sofa I thought for sure it would last for decades.
Not so.
Lesson learned, not to spend so much on a sofa.

This made a huge ruckus when it fell off the wall the other night.
Scared the living day lights out of me.
Leaving two (larger than before) holes in the wall.

How do you know when you need a new duvet cover?
When one small hole grows into one long rip.
Whoops!

Notice a pattern of ripped fabric?
The "nestlings" are really good at making small fixes, big.
If you need any help with that let me know and I'll send them over.

See this kitchen cabinet door.

It looks normal from here, but inside you'll see it's hanging from one hinge,
at least it used to be until the "husbird" duct taped it.
That's one way of fixing it.
(Little "D" attempted to close it over and over again with the shelf pulled out.)

See these ripples in my carpet?
Those have to be fixed (stretched).

I'm starting to feel like I'm walking on water...crossing waves in the ocean.
Our carpet installer did a horrible job.

Now, if Bob the Builder would make an appearance at my nest he could fix
these issues in a jiffy... if only he was real.
Do you ever feel like your house is falling apart one piece at a time?
Really, I have little to complain about, at least I have a house and it's still standing.
Right?

Heavy Heart

Sorry I've been on a blog break lately.
First, I had the "husbird" read a post I had been working on for a while and he said I shouldn't publish it and it kind of took the wind out of my bloggy sails--dumb I know, but what's a girl to do?
Then I read about my friend Carrie's cousin's baby who is in the PICU at Primary Children's Hospital fighting for his life and I feel like anything I want to blog about seems so minuscule.
I've had a cloud over my head with thoughts of this family all week.
I've been praying for them and I'm hoping you will too.
Be back soon.
I hope.

Carrie the Design Fairy

Carrie from Faririe Designs has been working hard on my little blog.
She went above and beyond the call of duty.
She even learned how to add rotating pictures for me
and made me the cutest button.
Love her.
She fixed, added, and changed until it looked just right,
so if you're in need of some design work she's the gal to call.
