Little Milestones

The last couple of weeks have marked a couple of events for two of the "nestlings."
Twenty seven month old "D" is now sleeping in a bed.
Yea!
Five year old "C" learned how to ride a bike.
No more training wheels.
Yea!

(Don't worry she always wears a helmet and tennis shoes while riding her bike)
They're growing up too fast!!!

License Plate Frame for Garage Sale Shoppers

I followed this car to Target yesterday.
It put a smile on my face.
If you can't read it, it says;
CAUTION!
VEHICLE STOPS FOR ALL garage sales
I wonder if she got the frame at a garage sale?

Calling all Samoa Lovers

Keebler has Cracked the Code!

I decided I'd buy a couple boxes of keebler cookies because they were on sale this week, as I scanned the different kinds I saw one called
"Coconut Dreams."
They looked just like the girl scout cookies called samoas.
I thought I'd get a box, not expecting them to taste as good, but much to my surprise they tasted just like samoas and are at least 1/2 the price.

Oh No!

South of the Border

Thought I'd wrap up our vacation better late than never.
From California we drove six hours to Mexico.
My in-laws are either super kind or kind of crazy
or both, because they agreed to take all of us in their minivan.
We filled every seat and the trunk was packed to the roof.
I sat in the very back row between my two girls.
Believe it or not it was quite nice being squished in the middle.
I read blogs on my laptop until we lost internet awhile before the border,
then I cut out paper dolls until I couldn't move my thumb.
We shared an apple and an orange.
I read them Cinderella.
It was a lovely time.

The "nestlings" found a crab and had fun torturing it, poor thing.
They eventually let it go.
Little "D" playing in the sand, happy as a clam.
Since the "nestlings" lived in their swimsuit,
my trick was to have two swimsuits per kid, that way one was always dry.
Miss "C" in her ruffly swimsuit.
The "husbird" and his brother built this sand castle with the "nestlings" help.
One of the nights we were there the moon was amazing.
It lit up the beach like it was day time
.Playing in the sand and sea was how we spent 90% of our time in Mexico.
All the "nestlings" have tan lines and lighter hair because of it.
We'll miss the beach until next year....

His and Hers Ceiling Fan, Great Kitchen Gadgets, and a Giveaway

I've been looking for a better lighting solution for my master bedroom and I found this, Casablanca Candelabra light kit that attaches to a ceiling fan.
It would be the best of both worlds for the "husbird" and I.
He gets the ceiling fan and I get the look of a chandelier.

Wouldn't it be great with this ceiling fan?
I've never seen a ceiling fan with beadboard blades, so cottagey.

Csnstores.com has more than just lights.
I found this great cuisinart griddler to make panini sandwiches, yum.
It has removable plates so it would be so easy to clean.

I've always wanted to try making yogurt from scratch.
I never knew there was a machine that will do it for you, a yogurt maker.
I'm sure the "nestlings" would love having homemade yogurt everyday.
Csnstores is offering a $40 gift certificate to one lucky person.
(Unfortunately this giveaway is only for U.S. and Canadian residents)
Check out csnlighting.com, leave a comment by July 15th, and
I'll randomly pick a winner on July 16th.
Good Luck!

Lego Day Adventures

While in California, we made our first ever trip to Legoland.
Do you see the escapee who doesn't want his picture taken?
I'd be lying if I said it was an entirely happy, fun filled day, because it wasn't.
Miss"C" cried or whined about half the day,
the lines were far longer than I thought they'd be on a Tuesday,
we waited for an hour in one of those long lines for a ride that wasn't worth it,
the "husbird" and I argued over stupid things,
we should have left runny nose "D" home with the in-laws,
and the park closed way too early.

I doubt we'll remember any of those things though.
We're more likely to remember...

the fun water area, meeting a princess,
and a full size bionicle. Most of all we'll remember the mini cities made of legos.
We visited Las Vegas, New York, New Orleans, Washington D.C., San Franciso,
and a few more all within an hours time.
Looking at them was probably the "nestlings" favorite part of the day, go figure
.
Oh, and we also got to see Thomas. He was a highlight for little "D."
On the way out the "husbird" tried to ditch me for this women
until he realized she was made of legos.

After a day of recovery we were off to Mexico, stay tuned for more adventures.

I Heart Cali

If we didn't live in Utah, we'd most likely live in California.
Every time we go there we talk about moving there.
We flew to Long Beach with JetBlue and got super lucky when the very kind lady that checked us in put us all in the very first row.
She probably pitied us, traveling with four kids, and loads of suitcases.
We each had our own TV, we checked one bag each for free, and they served us drinks AND a SNACK, a rarity for most airlines nowadays.
I wish JetBlue flew more places.
My mother-in-law has a gift of making her home very cozy and inviting. This was the very comfortable king size bed the "husbird" and I had the pleasure of sleeping on.
It is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. I want one.
Our bathroom was gorgeous, with plenty of towels, lotion, and soap.

As if that's not enough, just look at the view from my in-laws house.
There is a golf course behind their house that goes all the way to the ocean.
It only takes seven minutes to walk to the beach from their house.

On the walk to the beach is a beautiful pond,

lush green lawn, and trees.
Here we are at the beach.(the "nestlings" doing what they do best, play in the sand)
("T" and my niece playing in the water)
Oh what fun!
(Cousins jumping the waves)
(Miss "A"playing in the sand)
The area my in-laws live in is just magical,
too bad we can't quit our jobs, move in with them,
and just hang out at the beach all day.
Now that would be the life.

If you want to plan a vacation to this area my brother-in-law has an amazing website,
southerncaliforniariviera.com.

Happy to Be Back

Back to my bed.

Back to clean water I can drink, brush my teeth with, and anything else.

Back to my washing machine, yes I'm excited to do laundry (at least for today) since after 11 days away I'm excited to have clean clothes.

Back to the gym (tomorrow at least)...I feel like I've lost what little muscle I had.

Back to toys...I love it when we get back from a trip and the "nestlings" play with their toys like they are new, at least for a few days, entertaining themselves while I unpack and look through the stacks of mail.

Back to the internet....I know most people go on vacation to be unplugged, but instead of bringing a book with me I decided I'd catch up on my google reader, not knowing I wouldn't have internet. I found it incredibly aggravating to be disconnected.

(sunset last night at the Phoenix airport)
After traveling since noon yesterday, getting home at midnight, and getting to bed at 2 a.m. I was in an after vacation coma this morning when the phone rang at 8:00a.m. and jolted me out of my deep sleep. After getting up for an hour to send "T" off to scout camp for the day I went back to bed because I wasn't functioning well awake.

I'll be recapping our vacation over the the next few posts if you want to hear about our crazy adventures come back soon.
